VTS Online Bookstore

Screenshot of the Amazon aStore created to sell textbooks to VTS studentsWhile my husband pursued his master’s degree at Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS), I worked in the Cokesbury bookstore on campus. In the fall of 2012, Cokesbury decided to close the retail store at VTS. I proposed to the seminary’s dean and president that an Amazon portal could meet students’ immediate textbook needs until a more permanent solution could be found.

Working on a contract basis, I built an Amazon aStore designed to reflect VTS branding. Each semester, I communicated with the faculty to compile book lists. Then I added required and recommended texts to web pages specific to each course.

Christine Hosler is exceptionally capable. She is hard working, well-organized, and efficient. When the bookstore at Virginia Theological Seminary was closed by Cokesbury, we turned to Christine to create an on-line bookstore. This was a complex task. There were many stakeholders with an interest. Faculty colleagues, students, and staff — all had views. Christine got this just right. She was remarkable. I recommend her highly.
